After a thorough review of Brevo against five key criteria, I have determined that it does not align with the cost-integrity and stability required for a primary CRM recommendation.
Here is a breakdown of how the platform performs against essential requirement standards:
Per-User Monthly Pricing: While Brevo’s marketing platform is primarily based on email volume, it introduces per-user costs that can hinder a growing team. Adding additional users to lower tiers costs approximately $12 per user per month, and their Sales Pro version is priced strictly per seat. This model creates a scenario where you are essentially penalized for expanding your workforce.
Feature-Based Pricing Tiers: Brevo relies heavily on feature-gating, a practice where essential tools are locked behind higher-priced tiers. Functionalities such as A/B testing, advanced reporting, and landing pages are not included as standard features. For a business to truly scale, these tools should be accessible without being forced into an immediate upgrade.
Human Technical Support Availability: I believe every business deserves access to human support from day one. Unfortunately, Brevo restricts this access on its lower tiers. The free plan is limited to email support only, with live chat and phone support reserved for progressively more expensive levels. Reliable support should be a baseline expectation, not a luxury reserved for high-spend accounts.
Stair-Step Pricing Models: One of the most problematic aspects of Brevo’s structure is the massive "stair-step" jump between tiers. Moving from the Standard tier to the Professional tier involves a leap from roughly $18 per month to $449 per month. This creates a significant financial barrier for mid-sized businesses at the exact moment they need to scale their operations.
Introductory Traps and Hidden Costs: While the base costs may seem transparent, there are several "soft traps" that business owners should recognize. For instance, the "Starter" plan requires a $10 per month add-on just to remove the Brevo logo from your communications. Furthermore, automation workflows are capped at 2,000 contacts on lower plans, forcing an upgrade once your audience growth reaches a modest milestone.
The Verdict
Because Brevo fails to meet my several core criteria, particularly regarding its stair-step pricing and the financial penalties associated with growth, I cannot recommend it as a primary CRM solution in good faith.
