Your Webinar Deserves More Eyes and These Tips Make It Happen

July 22, 20263 min read

Every business owner has that moment when they pour their heart into a webinar, hit “publish,” and wait for the registrations to roll in. Then the numbers come in and they are lower than expected. It stings. It feels personal. It makes you wonder if you should even bother hosting another one.

A networking partner of mine recently shared that her webinars were not well attended, and she felt discouraged. I told her something I want you to hear too. Low attendance does not mean your content is weak. It usually means your strategy needs a small tune up. The good news is that these tune ups are simple, repeatable, and incredibly effective once you put them into motion.

Below is the same advice I shared with her, and I am sharing it publicly because these strategies help any business owner who wants their workshops, webinars, or virtual events to get more exposure.

Give People Time to Plan

One of the biggest reasons webinars underperform is timing. People are busy. Their calendars fill up fast. If you announce your webinar only a week or two before it happens, you are asking people to rearrange their lives on short notice.

After hosting workshops for a couple of years, I noticed a clear pattern. When I give people at least four weeks of advance notice, attendance goes up. It gives them breathing room. It gives them time to plan. It gives them a chance to say yes without feeling rushed. Sometimes I even do more than a month in advance.

If your webinars have been announced last minute, this one change alone can make a dramatic difference.

Promote the Replay

Here is a secret that many business owners overlook. Most people do not attend live webinars. They attend the replay. And that is perfectly fine.

When you tell people they can register even if they cannot attend live, you remove the pressure. You make the decision easier. You also gain something incredibly valuable. Once they register, they are saved to your CRM. That means you can send targeted follow up messages based on the topics they care about.

Your follow up emails can remind them to watch the replay, highlight the value of the topic, and guide them toward the next step. Each message should include a clear call to action such as book a chat or click here to learn more. This is how awareness turns into interest and interest turns into action.

Activate Your Networking Partners

Your network is one of your strongest assets. If you are not leveraging it, you are missing out on free visibility.

A simple LinkedIn post can go a long way. Share your upcoming webinar and invite your network to like, comment, or share it with people who might enjoy the experience. When your networking partners engage with your post, the algorithm pushes it further. More eyes, more clicks, more registrations. My example LinkedIn post I asked my genuine networking partners to engage with:

When you have strong networking partners, they want to help you succeed. Give them something simple to support and they will show up for you.

Why I Share This Advice

I shared this guidance with my networking partner because she deserved to know that her work is valuable and her results can improve with a few strategic adjustments. I am sharing it with you because you might be in the same situation. You might be creating great content that simply needs better timing, better promotion, and better support.

Your webinars can thrive. Your workshops can fill up. Your message can reach the people who need it. You just need a strategy that respects how people actually behave online.
