A Journey That Rewired My Perspective on Life, Connection, and Growth

A Journey That Rewired My Perspective on Life, Connection, and Growth

December 29, 20254 min read

I went into this experience expecting a few hours of psychedelic chaos and maybe a funny story to tell later. Instead, 7.2 grams (and some change) of psilocybin handed me a front-row seat to the inner workings of my mind and a backstage pass to the parts of myself I didn’t even know existed.

At first, it was subtle. The room seemed to breathe with me, rising and falling like it had synced itself to my lungs. But the moment I closed my eyes, the real journey began.

Suddenly, I wasn’t in my room anymore. I was part of a vast underground network, an intricate web of garden roots stretching endlessly in every direction. A tiny spark of light traveled through this system, stopping at checkpoints like it had a mission. Each stop unlocked a box, and inside each box was a person from my life: past, present, or somewhere in between.

And here’s where things got wild.

Every time a box opened, I didn’t just remember that person. I became them. I felt their struggles, their sacrifices, their victories, and how they experienced the moments we shared. It was empathy on steroids, minus the steroids.

I cried without tears. I laughed while crying. I cried while laughing. I felt everything, everywhere, all at once. And in that emotional hurricane, I realized something painfully obvious yet deeply overlooked:

I had never truly stepped into someone else’s shoes before. Not like this. Not fully. Not with my whole heart.

But the beauty of that realization? It made me smile. Because it reminded me that it’s never too late to start understanding people on a deeper level.

As the spark continued through the roots, unlocking box after box, I felt a wave of gratitude for every person who had ever crossed my path. Some are long gone. Some are still here. Some are living their lives miles away. But every single one of them shaped me in some way. And I genuinely rock with all of them.

At the same time, the experience made something else crystal clear:
Life is too short for half-hearted connections.

I want depth. I want reciprocity. I want people who show up with the same intention, curiosity, and authenticity that I bring to the table. And honestly, that’s not just a personal preference, it’s the foundation of my health, my business, and my mission in life.

Because here’s the truth I walked away with:

A supportive network of genuine people isn’t optional, it’s oxygen.

It’s the backbone of growth.
It’s the fuel for resilience.
It’s the difference between surviving and thriving.

And that’s exactly why I’ve made it my mission to continue finding, nurturing, and connecting with people who are real, grounded, and aligned. People who want to grow. People who want to contribute. People who understand that relationships, when done right, are the greatest investment we can make.

As the spark moved deeper into the root system, another realization hit me hard:

Every choice I’ve made so far has been the right one.

We all doubt ourselves. We all second-guess. But in that moment, I felt a level of clarity I hadn’t experienced in years. My career path, my relationships, my decisions, they all aligned. It lit a fire in me, pushing me to keep going, keep building, keep becoming the version of myself I know I’m capable of being.

When the trip finally ended 9 or so hours later, I sat in complete silence. No noise. No distractions. Just me, my thoughts, and a newfound sense of purpose. While everyone else was out enjoying their weekend, I was out here breaking the space-time continuum like Rey Mysterio flying off the top rope (LOL).

And honestly? I wouldn’t trade it.

This journey didn’t just shift my perspective, it rewired it. It gave me a secret weapon for the hard moments life throws at me. A reminder of who I am, what matters, and why genuine human connection is the heartbeat of everything I do.

I named this article “7 Grams & Some Change” because that’s all it took to unlock a transformation I never saw coming. But the real change didn’t come from the psilocybin, it came from what it revealed.

Realizations & Confirmations

✔️ I’m on the right path.

My doubts melted away. My choices made sense. My direction felt aligned.

✔️ Gratitude is fuel.

I walked away with a deeper appreciation for where I am and where I’m going.

✔️ Connection is everything.

The people in my life—past, present, and future—are the foundation of my health, my business, and my purpose.

The Journey Continues

This wasn’t just a trip. It was a transformation. A recalibration. A reminder that growth, real growth, comes from understanding ourselves and the people around us.

And if you’re on your own journey of self-discovery, health optimization, or building a network of genuine humans who lift you higher, stick around.

There’s more to explore.
More to learn.
More to become.

Quitting my demanding corporate IT job at a Customer Relationship Management company was a life-changing decision. Burnout pushed me to explore new horizons, leading me to culinary arts, functional nutrition, and sales training. Each step reignited my passion and guided me back to technology with a renewed purpose: to help others make a bigger impact. Now, I thrive in empowering service-based businesses to harness CRM technology to stand out, and build lasting, meaningful connections that drive sustainable growth.
